Remember or Wonder...

Last night was my Foundations of Literacy Instruction class and we discussed the topic of Metacognition, which is knowledge of your own thoughts. The professor gave us a series of questions on a worksheet to work with a partner. One of the questions asked us whether if we prefer to wonder or remember. My partner immediately responded she would like to wonder because it leaves room for creativity and exploration. Scrunching my forehead and reminiscing my past experiences, I was in congruence of appreciating the beauty of wondering. However, I was convinced I rather remember than to wonder because living a life of wonder is living a life of what if's...whether if I fall or stand, I believe there are no accidents in life. As one of my favorite Beatitudes states, "Love seeks what is best for the beloved...God's plan is what is good for us, not just what is good for God..."

On Novemer 8th, we celebrated Greg's 29th birthday. It was a joyous event surrounded by family, friends and great food. Two weeks approaching his birthday, I was kept in constant wonder of what I could possibly give him. My mind created its own medley of electronic items. But none of the items excited me and I realized I had to think of something more meaningful and maybe it did not have to be tangible. I decided on a moment and something he can always remember. Therefore, I made a card out of construction paper with the following poem:

2008 is such a wonderful year,
moments of happiness and tears…

Happy Birthday to a wonderful person such as you,
you are so awesome and amazingly cool.

Just remember how much you are loved
by all those around you and those up above…

Looking forward to document more memories with you
as we take a ferry and admire the sea of blue…

Be ready in two weeks because we will take off for the weekend...
Make sure to bring an umbrella and jot this down with a pen.

We will be flying on Friday to the lovely city of Seattle,
gallivanting and exploring the city and making our own kind of rattle...

Seattle this Friday here we come! Looking forward to seeing you Bossch!! =)
