Why do I always feel like I'm playing catchup on this blog? Makes me wonder why I do blog at times, but then I think about a quote from someone I remembered. She said that one of the greatest things you can keep for yourself is a journal, it would never lose value and your grandchildren would appreciate it one day. So my motivation to play this catchup game are my grandkids I'm going to have one day....many many years from now! =)
The past few weekends included:
Vegas - Went with Tricia, Marilyn, Michelle, April and Jen. Fun times all around!! We stayed at Tree's timeshare and partied all weekend long. One of my fav moments was the champagne brunch, but it was one of the saddest because I gave up desserts for Lent. Seriously, I actually feel like I'm giving up something this Lent Season. No gambling on this trip, but lots of dancing!! =)
After Vegas, my back was hurting for a whole week. Talk about the coming of age right? I pulled it when I was lifting my suitcase up the stairs. Aaay! However, I think I believe things happen for a reason. So I went to a chiropractor all week long. I loved it! I think I'm addicted to electrotherapy. I even did some research to see how much they cost so I can give my own personal therapy massage sessions! But I think it's a lot cheaper just going to the chiropractor, so that idea is out of my thoughts now. Due to the back being fragile, I ended up taking yoga and pilates. Never have been an avid goer of these two physical activities, but I can honestly appreciate it now. I'm going to make a commitment to take one of these classes at least once a week so I can help maintain the strength of my back.
I ended up being on bed rest that weekend and cancelled all my plans and activities. The only thing active was getting massages on Saturday morning and watching Grey's Anatomy all weekend long. Throughout the week, I got better and started running again! I have to wear this back brace though, but at least I'm on my feet again.
Maybeth sent out an email about a Mud Race in October and I joined. I'm actually pretty nervous about it and know that I need to train intensely for it. The Mud Run is a 10K run with hills, tire obstacles, low sand crawl, river crossings, two 5-foot walls with mud on both sides, tunnel crawl, slippery hill climb, and the final 30-foot mud pit. Along the course there will be 6 water points with personnel staged at each. Reading that makes me nervous...haha...but I'm staying hopeful and thinking it's doable. Through time and training right? Anyhoo, in the meantime, I know I have about 7 months to work towards accomplishing this beast so I'll just add a mile to my run each month and hopefully I'll be okay when the time comes.
Other than that, last weekend I was Tree's plus one to Michelle's bro's wedding!! It was lots of fun! Met up with all the girls at Tree's place and took off to Pasadena for the wedding. It was a beautiful event! After the ceremony, the girls and I headed out to Yardhouse to kill time and have some appetizers and drinks. Then we partied some more at the reception! Line dancing and swing was so much fun!
On Sunday, I hungout with my dad and later on met up with Greg to eat and rest. We also finally finished the whole entire Season 2 of Grey's!! Drama....as I'm shaking my head....I could not believe Izzy cut the chord, I couldn't even watch her anymore. It was getting to hysterical for me.
This week has been pretty chill and just looking forward to this Thursday!! I'm leaving to Oahu tomorrow for Thitam's birthday!! I can't wait!!
