Coffee Mug

Perusing through the mail with a coffee mug in hand this morning, I decided to mark off a project for work. The letter notes the following:

As Muriel Barbery in The Elegance of the Hedgehog shares, "No need to travel far, a trip to the realm of literary memory will suffice. For where can one find more noble distraction, more entertaining company, more delightful enchantment than in literature."

As we embark upon a new school year with a focus on writing across the curriculum, we thought it would be fitting to begin the year metaphorically. For this year's Faculty Introduction Board, we are asking that each of you turn in a recent picture that will accompany a metaphor that you have come across recently, or one of your own.

Researching through the Internet for my project, I decided to put in writing one metaphor which resonated throughout my search:

"People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within." ~ Elizabeth Kubler Ross

Hope you are all enjoying your morning cup of coffee!
