Hachi

About three weeks ago, Greg and I went to visit Greg Diaz at the L.A. Spring Pet Adoption Festival since he's been volunteering at the Animal Shelter every weekend. With no other hidden agenda in mind, Greg and I never realized we were about to adopt our little girl. With no background history and only knowing that she was admitted into the rescue shelter as 'owner surrender', Greg and I adored her sweet disposition. We decided to name her Hachi, short for Hachiko. In Japanese, her name stands for "faithful dog Hachiko" and 'Hachi' means 'eight', which is Greg's birthdate and our lucky number. Her name derived from the true life of a dog named, Hachiko, an Akita dog born on a farm near the city of Odate, remembered for his loyalty to his owner, even many years after his owner's death.
